EY Boosts UK Funds for Fines, Legal Claims as Audit Woes Mount

Ernst & Young’s UK arm has added £188 million ($251 million) in funds set aside to settle legal and regulatory claims as the firm faces scrutiny of its audit work for clients including NMC Health Plc, the collapsed healthcare group.

The addition brought EY’s total provisions for such claims to £184 million in 2025, after accounting for payouts from the fund, according to its most recent annual report filed March 15 with the UK’s Companies House. That’s up from £44 million in funds EY reserved for the claims the previous year.
