Ex-KPMG Tax Controversy Head to Lead IRS Taxpayer Advocate Arm

Erin Collins, a former managing director at tax and accounting firm KPMG, has been chosen to lead the Taxpayer Advocate Service, an independent arm of IRS that helps taxpayers resolve disputes with the agency.

  • Collins replaces Nina Olson, who stepped down from the role last summer after 18 years on the job
  • NOTE: Collins, from 1999 until last year, oversaw KPMG’s Tax Controversy Services practice for the Western U.S. region
    • She worked as a lawyer in the IRS Office of Chief Counsel for 15 years before joining KPMG
