Companies operating in Europe will have to report sustainability measures beginning in 2024, after the European Council on Monday gave its unanimous backing to the plan.
All 27 members of the Council voted to make sustainability reporting mandatory for European firms. Under the measure, the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group is writing reporting standards that cover the full range of environmental, social, and governance issues. The Council consists of the leaders of the 27 EU member states.
