Canada Decreases Employment Insurance Rates for 2026

Canada’s Employment Insurance contribution rates will decrease for 2026, while the maximum insurable earnings will increase, Employment and Social Development Canada said in the summary of its annual actuarial report on the program.

The employee contribution rate outside of Quebec will be 1.63% in 2026, down from 1.64%, and the employer contribution rate will be 2.28%, down from 2.3%, the agency said. In Quebec, the employee contribution rate will be 1.3%, down from 1.31% in 2025, and the employer contribution rate will be 1.82%, down from 1.83%, the agency said.
