Stocks Push Higher on Rate-Cut Expectations: Markets Wrap

Technology stocks drove an advance in global equities as traders kicked off a data-packed week more optimistic that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates in December.

Major US stock indexes extended their ascent, with the S&P 500 rising 1.6% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 jumping more than 2%. The latter is headed for its best day since May. Bitcoin reversed an earlier drop. The US 10-year Treasury yield declined to 4.04%. Oil rose after swinging between small gains and losses for most of the session as traders weighed the prospect of a Ukraine-Russia peace deal.
