Walmart Secures $4 Million Property Tax Assessment Reduction

Walmart Inc. successfully convinced the Minnesota Tax Court to reduce the property tax valuation of one of its stores by nearly $4 million.

Walmart properly came to the store’s $7.9 million assessment by considering similar properties in the Twin Cities area, such as other Walmart stores and Sam’s Clubs, Chief Judge Jane N. Bowman said. The court, however, disregarded one of Walmart’s comparable properties, which was a Menards store turned into a church.
