Trump Fights to Keep New York Tax Return Lawsuit in DC

President Donald Trump beefed up the argument for why his lawsuit with New York state officials and the House Ways and Means Committee should stay in Washington, in an amended complaint filed on Aug. 19.

New York Attorney General Letitia James filed papers on Aug. 9 arguing the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia lacks jurisdiction to consider the president’s lawsuit. The suit aims to prevent the House Ways and Means Committee from obtaining the president’s New York state tax returns after the state passed a law authorizing the transfer.
