Sri Lanka Tax Agency Announces March 2026, Q1 2026 VAT Return Filing Deadline

The Sri Lankan Inland Revenue April 15 announced the April 30 filing deadline for March 2026 and Q1 2026 VAT returns. The announcement also includes that: 1) penalties will be imposed for failing to submit a return or submitting an incorrect return; 2) input VAT credits for local purchases or imports will be denied if claimed on returns filed more than 12 or 24 months after the deadline, respectively; and 3) VAT returns for any taxable period ending within 24 months from the customs declaration date can be used to claim VAT paid on imports against output tax for the ...
