Pfizer to Appeal $9 Million Tax Bill From Indian Tax Authority

Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc. will fight a recent $9 million tax bill it received from India’s tax authorities, according to financial filings this week.

The company’s Indian entity Pfizer Limited received an assessment order from the Income Tax Department seeking 857.4 million rupees ($9 million), filings said.

The order alleges the company underreported its income due to the disallowance of expenses on the company’s tax return for financial year 2022-23.
