The Philadelphia Department of Revenue (DOR) announced that beginning Jan. 1, 2027, the Use and Occupancy (U&O) Tax for properties with cell towers will be calculated based solely on the tower’s assessed value, and the amount of space occupied by the tower will no longer be included in the tax calculation. The department also announced tax rate reductions effective in 2027, including decreases in the wage tax, earnings tax, net profits tax, school income tax, and business income and receipts tax (BIRT).
