Moderates Offer Health Credit Proposal
Dozens of House moderates rolled out a proposal for a short-term extension of the expiring enhanced Obamacare tax credits, though the plan faces long odds.
Led by Reps. Jen Kiggans (R-Va.) and Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.) and backed by more than 30 lawmakers, the plan would renew for one-year the enhanced credits but place new income restrictions on eligibility.
It also would extend the open enrollment period for Obamacare insurance policies until March 19. The credits help offset the cost of premiums for health-care exchange plans.
