Michigan Property Owner Filed Tax Lawsuit Too Late, Court Says

A property owner’s suit challenging an increase to the property’s taxable value was untimely, the Michigan Court of Appeals held in dismissing the suit.

Bluewater Natural Gas Holding LLC had 35 days to file its petition after the local board of review increased its assessment, the court said. The company was mistaken that the 35-day window started when the amount of taxes owed was determined, the Thursday opinion said.
