Married Couple Can’t Block IRS Clawback of $444,000 Tax Refund

A married couple who a court said “vastly overreported their actual income and taxes paid” failed in their bid to stop the IRS from clawing back an erroneously issued 2020 refund of over $444,000.

Judge David A. Tapp of the US Court of Federal Claims granted a government motion to require April Harry and Janeth Quinones to remit the unpaid taxes plus statutory interest. The Quinoneses, of Pembroke Pines, Fla., claimed taxable wages of $3.66 million and $470,000 in taxes withheld.
