IRS to Streamline Extensions for Pandemic-Era Tax Credit Denials

Thousands of taxpayers can request an extension online to challenge their pandemic-era tax credit denials as the deadline to do so nears.

Taxpayers generally have two years from receiving a tax credit denial letter to challenge the ruling and receive their refund. After the two-year period, the IRS can’t issue the taxpayer a refund, even if it later decides in favor of the taxpayer, unless they file for extension.
