When a taxpayer receives a notice or letter from the IRS, the first step is to determine the reason behind it, the IRS’s Taxpayer Advocate Service tax tip addressed June 7. TAS stated that the IRS has a Search Notice and Letters feature on its website to help with inquiries, as well as the TAS’s GET HELP section.
