IRS Seeks for Access to Gmail, Yahoo Accounts for Tax Probe

The IRS asked the US Tax Court to compel Google and Yahoo to release emails that may aid in the agency’s pursuit of tax penalties against a man it suspects of failing to report his interests in a foreign corporation.

The IRS seeks records pertaining to Raju Mukhi, whom it alleges took “affirmative steps to create and conceal” foreign entities from 2002 to 2013.

Mukhi, who initiated the fight over the agency’s collection efforts, “has not been forthcoming” in providing information to show how he created and manages these foreign entities, the government told Judge Travis Greaves in its bid ...
