IRS Issues PLR Granting Extension for Late QOF Self-Certification

The IRS has issued a private letter ruling on I.R.C. §1400Z-2 and Treas. Reg. §301.9100 granting the taxpayer a 60-day extension to file Form 8996 for self-certification as a qualified opportunity fund (QOF) effective from the month of formation after the taxpayer relied on a tax advisor who failed to timely file the required form.
