The IRS extended the comment period for proposed regulations requiring crypto exchanges to report more information about their users, moving the deadline from Oct. 30 to Nov. 13, according to a notice (REG-122793-19) published Tuesday.
The notice cited “strong public interest” in the proposed regulations as to why the IRS pushed back the deadline, and said a public hearing on the proposed rules would still take place Nov. 7. A second hearing could be held Nov. 8, if the number of speaker requests exceeds what the IRS can handle in one day.
