Haddad: There’ll Be Compensation for Income Tax Changes

Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said government should include in this year’s budget bill a provision to exempt earners of up to two minimum wages from income tax, and to discuss the exemption for earners of up to 5,000 reais after the budget is approved, Finance Minister Fernando Haddad told reporters in Brasília.

  • Government is considering keeping the exemption at two minimum wages this year to maintain the pace of adjustments, Haddad said
  • There will be compensatory measures so that the exemption range is increased, he said
