Germany’s finance minister is “optimistic” a deal will be finalized that would exempt US companies from fundamental provisions of the EU’s 15% minimum corporate tax law.
“We have a clear agreement within the G-7, a clear agreement with the Americans, that we will find a common path,” Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil said Wednesday outside of a Eurogroup ministers meeting in Brussels.
The EU adopted the levy as part of one half of a global tax deal negotiated at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
