DraftKings Anticipates ‘Taking Action’ After Illinois Tax Hike

Sports-betting operator DraftKings Inc. said it’s weighing its next moves after a recent tax increase in Illinois.

“In response to the recent and prior mobile sports wagering tax increases in Illinois, DraftKings anticipates taking action and expects to share more information soon,” the company said in an emailed statement.

Illinois legislators last week passed a budget that included a tax of 25 cents on the first 20 million of online sports bets made annually, rising to 50 cents after that.
