DirecTV, Dish Network Not Subject to Missouri Video Service Fees

DirecTV LLC, Dish Network Corp., and Sling TV LLC need not pay a Missouri video service providers fee because an amendment to the state law clarified the companies were never subject to the fees in the first place, a state appeals court held Tuesday.

The Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District, held that the Missouri legislature amended the Video Service Providers Act’s definition of “video service” to clarify that the term doesn’t apply to streaming content.
