Senate Democrats are pushing for a vote to overturn President Trump’s payroll tax deferral, according to an emailed statement.

  • Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Finance Cmte Ranking Democrat Ron Wyden are requesting the Government Accountability Office conduct an expedited review under the Congressional Review Act, a law that could allow Congress to overturn administration regulations
    • Senators seek results of review by Sept. 22
  • NOTE: The effort faces long odds because it would require two-thirds majorities to pass both chambers of Congress
