Democrats Push IRS for Details on Taxpayers Waiting for Refunds

IRS CEO Frank Bisignano could face questions from lawmakers on whether taxpayers who first got letters instead of automatic refund checks have been made whole during testimony in front of a House panel.

Following a directive from President Donald Trump, the IRS strongly encouraged direct deposit returns this filing season. Ahead of the filing deadline, the agency told Capitol Hill they’d sent more than 2 million letters encouraging filers to provide bank information before sending out paper checks.
