Democrats Float Tax Cuts Ahead of 2028
As Democrats start testing policy proposals ahead of the 2028 presidential election, one somewhat surprising idea has gained traction: large-scale tax cuts.
Sens. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) and Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), both ambitious national Democrats, have each offered plans that would result in substantial amounts of low- and-middle income households owing nothing in federal income taxes. The cuts would be offset by tax increases on high-income households.
