BlueTriton Brands, whose products include Poland Spring and Deer Park water, deceives consumers by portraying itself as environmentally responsible, despite “significant and ongoing contributions to plastic pollution,” Earth Island Institute alleges in a new lawsuit.
BlueTriton, formerly Nestlé Waters North America, greatly exaggerates the role of recycling in addressing the harm of plastic pollution, according to the lawsuit, filed Tuesday in the District of Columbia Superior Court.
On its website and in various advertising campaigns, BlueTriton says it considers “sustainability” principles in its business practices and strives for a “waste-free future,” the environmental advocacy group says.
