At least 100 House members signed a letter calling on House and Senate leadership to clear pending Taiwan-related tax legislation before the end of this Congress.
The tax legislation enjoys bipartisan support and would provide treaty-like benefits to relieve double taxation on companies doing business between the US and Taiwan. Congressional Taiwan Caucus leaders Reps. Ami Bera (D-Calif.) and Andy Barr (R-Ky.) had been circulating the letter urging movement since November.
For Bera, getting the bill across the finish line would signal US support to businesses and investors in the island democracy.
