Acting IRS Chief Takes Deputy Role in Latest Agency Shakeup

Acting IRS Commissioner Melanie Krause announced Tuesday to employees that she’s been selected as deputy commissioner at the IRS, while the agency awaits confirmation of a new commissioner.

It’s the latest shakeup since Krause took over as the third person to lead the agency since the start of the year. Krause also noted several other changes to senior leadership roles, according to an email seen by Bloomberg Tax. President Donald Trump formally nominated former Rep. Billy Long (R-Mo.) to serve as IRS commissioner, finishing out former Commissioner Danny Werfel’s five-year term.
