Trump Uses Tax Law Fund to Pay Some Feds
As the government shutdown stretches into another month, President Donald Trump is using an obscure fund from the GOP tax law to selectively pay some federal employees.
The $10 billion fund from the Republicans’ signature tax-and-spending law is helping pay Department of Homeland Security enforcement employees during the shutdown, three people told Bloomberg Government, speaking anonymously to describe information that hasn’t been publicly announced. A second pot of money in the law—a $3.3 billion fund for the Justice Department—is also being tapped for employee pay, one person said.
