Texas Justice Says She Has ‘Concern’ Over District’s Tax Suit

A Texas Supreme Court justice during oral arguments on Wednesday said she had a “concern” over a flood of new lawsuits stemming from a dispute of taxing authority between overlapping school districts.

Lyford Consolidated Independent School District and a group of taxpayers are challenging South Texas ISD’s use of a voter-approved property tax. South Texas ISD spans three counties and can impose taxes on properties also taxed by other districts, including Lyford ISD.
