Sri Lanka to Announce IMF Program-Compliant Tax Incentives

Sri Lanka is planning to announce a revised framework of tax concessions for new investments, which have been discussed with the International Monetary Fund, Chairman Board of Investment Arjuna Herath says.

  • The new concessions will be scaled down from those offered earlier under the Strategic Development Projects law, but would make Sri Lanka more tax competitive, Herath says in an interview
    • Will apply to investments larger than $50 million and progressively be based on thresholds
