Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt called a special session of the Legislature, seeking income tax cuts and a “trigger law” to prevent selective income tax exemptions based on race or heritage.
The Republican governor on Monday summoned the lawmakers back to the statehouse, starting Oct. 3, to pass a bill mandating that if a state or federal court determines specific people are exempt from paying state income tax―due to their race, heritage, or political classification―then no Oklahoma resident will be required to pay that tax.
