New York City lawmakers hope more landlords will make space for day cares and early education centers in their buildings after boosting a tax credit for expanding enrollment.
Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) signed legislation earlier this month to increase the size of the abatement for New York City facilities constructed between March 15, 2025 and March 15, 2027. Property owners in most parts of the city can now earn a property tax break of up to $350,000 for creating more child care spots.
