NJ Weighs $300 Million Tax Break for NHL’s Devils Arena Upgrades

The Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. could get a $300 million tax break toward upgrades under a bill lawmakers are advancing in the final weeks of the state’s legislative session.

The state Assembly Commerce, Economic Development, and Agriculture Committee approved the legislation carving out new tax incentives for the Prudential Center, which is home to the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, and increasing the amount of tax credits available under the state’s different economic development programs.

The bill, A6306/S5031, has yet to be voted on in the Senate and will have to be resubmitted for consideration if it isn’t approved ...
