NJ Lawmakers Renew Push to Exempt Silver, Gold from Sales Tax

A bill to exempt investment metals like silver coins and gold bars from sales tax took a step forward in the New Jersey Assembly on Monday, as lawmakers barrel toward the June 30 end of session.

The Assembly Commerce, Economic Development, and Agriculture Committee on Monday voted unanimously in favor of the measure, A2812. An identical version of the bill, S721, passed the Senate unanimously in March.
