New York Budget Negotiations to Blow Past April 1 Deadline

Kathy Hochul’s first budget as an elected governor of New York State will be late, as negotiations with her fellow Democratic legislators are expected to continue after an April 1 deadline when the new fiscal year begins.

Talks about the proposed $227 billion state budget are largely being held up by Hochul’s plan to increase housing and her push to change the bail law, legislative leaders said Thursday afternoon.
