Nebraska Falls Back in Compliance With Sales Tax Uniformity Pact

Nebraska enacted a legislative fix that brings it back into compliance with a compact aimed at simplifying sales taxes across 24 states, the Streamlined Sales Tax Governing Board found.

The board voted unanimously Tuesday that a bill signed into law in June addressed the state’s violation. Taking part in the Streamlined agreement isn’t legally binding and being out of compliance doesn’t come with monetary penalties, but a state that doesn’t comply with the rules can be removed from the group and will no longer benefit from its support or collective resources.
