Montana Governor Announces Extension of Individual Income Tax Payment, Filing Deadlines to May 17

The Montana Governor March 18 announced the extension of payment and filing deadlines for 2020 state individual income tax returns to May 17. The deadline is in keeping with the new federal filing deadline announced yesterday. The announcement also includes: 1) the Department of Revenue (DOR) advises that the American Rescue Plan Act excludes the first $10,200 of unemployment benefits from federal taxes for those making less than $150,000; 2) those who have already filed their federal and state individual income tax returns don’t have to amend their returns; and 3) those who received unemployment benefits in 2020 and haven’t ...
