Missouri Governor Seeks to Phase Out Individual Income Tax

Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe on Tuesday asked lawmakers to work with him to phase out the state’s personal income tax.

“It will take time, but I have directed the Missouri Department of Revenue to work with my staff on a sustainable and comprehensive plan to eliminate the individual income tax once and for all,” the Republican governor, who was sworn in Jan. 13, said in his State of the State address. “I ask you to work with us in this effort and add additional Senate Bill 509-style income tax triggers this session.”
