Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey (D) proposed legislation on Thursday that would phase in conformity with five major business provisions of President Donald Trump’s signature tax law.
The bill, HD. 5557, aims to strike a balance between losing too much revenue from some of the costliest provisions of the federal law and keeping the state competitive, Healey said. Without the bill’s changes, the state’s automatic conformity with the federal corporate tax code would cost Massachusetts more than $442 million in fiscal year 2026, the governor’s office said in a press release.
