Johns Hopkins and Other Nonprofits Double Payments to Baltimore

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott says a new agreement with the city’s largest nonprofits requires them to gradually increase their contributions to the city’s coffers.

Johns Hopkins University, Loyola University Maryland and Grace Medical Center are among the 14 institutions that will double payments to the city totaling $12 million in 2030, up from $6 million in 2025, according to an announcement this month. The group won’t see increases until 2028, when their contribution rises to $8 million for the year.
