IT Company’s President Held Liable for $20 Million in NY Taxes

A now-defunct technical support firm’s co-founder and president is personally liable for more than $19 million in sales and use taxes the company owes New York, a state administrative law judge ruled.

Vishal Dhar failed to prove that he didn’t have sufficient authority and control over the affairs of iYogi Inc. to be considered a person under a duty to collect and remit the company’s unpaid taxes, New York Division of Tax Appeals Administrative Law Judge Barbara J. Russo ruled in an opinion released Thursday.
