The Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR) Feb. 1 issued a warning asking seniors to not mistakenly file both Form IT-40 and SC-40 to claim the Unified Tax Credit for the Elderly because it may delay their potential refund. The DOR provided the income requirements that the seniors must meet to determine which form to use. Taxpayers who aren’t required to file an individual income tax return can use Form SC-40, which is due by July 1, to claim a refund.
