The California Franchise Tax Board named Shane Hofeling as its new chief counsel effective on Monday.
Hofeling, who previously served as deputy chief counsel for five years, takes over as the income tax agency’s top lawyer following former chief counsel Jozel Brunett’s retirement in 2024. FTB Executive Officer Selvi Stanislaus appointed him to the position, with approval from the three-member board.
