Washington Enacts Property Tax Exemption for Certain Nonprofits Providing Certain Social Services

The Washington Governor signed a law concerning certain property tax exemptions. The law includes providing a property tax exemption for property owned by a qualifying nonprofit organization and loaned, leased, or rented to and used by any government entity, a federally recognized Indian tribe located in Washington, or another nonprofit organization using the property to provide character-building, benevolent, protective, or rehabilitative social services. The law takes effect on July 27 and applies to property taxes due for calendar years 2026 and thereafter. [H.B. 1094, enacted 04/07/25]
