Swiss Set to Reject Inheritance Tax on Super Rich, Poll Shows

Three quarters of Swiss voters are expected to reject a new inheritance tax targeted at the super rich, according to a poll ahead of a plebiscite later this month.

Opposition to the plan — put forward by the Young Socialists — has increased to 75%, up from 67% in a survey a month ago, newspaper group Tamedia/20 Minuten said.

The proposal, set for a national vote on Nov. 30, would impose a 50% tax on assets exceeding 50 million francs ($62.8 million), with the revenue directed toward initiatives aimed at combating climate change.
