SEC Says Market Should Decide How Often Companies Report: FT

The SEC should only require companies to supply information under the objective standard of whether a reasonable investor would regard it as important to an investment decision, SEC Chairman Paul Atkins says in an opinion piece in the Financial Times.

  • “It is time for the SEC to remove its thumb from the scales and allow the market to dictate the optimal reporting frequency based on factors such as the company’s industry, size and investor expectations”
