Oklahoma Group Brings Two More Conservation Easement Tax Claims

An Oklahoma group is challenging IRS denials of almost $25 million in tax deductions they claimed for preserving land near Tulsa.

The two partnerships, both controlled by Reed and Gabrielle Oppenheimer, petitioned the US Tax Court after the IRS informed them that their charitable contribution tax deductions wouldn’t be allowed on their 2018 tax returns. The group brought two more conservation easement cases in May, each involving about $13.1 million deductions for 2018 on about 5 acres of Oklahoma land.
