Officials Make Little Progress on EU Energy Tax Overhaul

A meeting of EU ambassadors on Wednesday didn’t produce a breakthrough on a controversial tax bill that would revise the way the bloc taxes fuel and electricity.

That means it’s doubtful the bill, known as the Energy Taxation Directive, will be approved by the EU’s finance ministers when they meet next week, though the ministers will still discuss the file. Wednesday’s meeting came after another meeting on Monday that also didn’t produce an agreement.
