Norway government will abolish obligation to pay carbon tax for businesses that are subject to EU emissions quotas, effective March 1, according to website statement.
- Says the exemption is introduced after dialog with EFTA surveillance authority
- Says “many companies have had to pay twice for the same emissions” to meet the requirements of the state aid regulations
- Changes will not affect the fulfillment of Norway’s climate commitments
